Prof. ZHOU Lijun elected to the WLO Executive Committee

Prof. ZHOU Lijun, deputy dean of the College of Education and director of World Leisure Center of Excellence at Zhejiang University (WLCE-ZJU) was elected to the World Leisure Organization (WLO) Executive Committee on April 1.


The WLO Executive Committee is composed of 5 members elected by and from the Board, with a balanced diversity of backgrounds and skills representing the business, financial, academic, government and the non-profit communities. Members of the Executive Committee shall assume responsibilities  at the call of the Chair. Their major responsibilities include setting goals, monitoring progress towards them, serving as the Evaluation Committee for Elections, receiving and acting upon programs and event proposals, determining program priorities, monitoring the financial affairs of WLO and setting annual revenue and expenditure budgets and recommending proposals for the investments of funds.  

Members of the Executive Committee are initially appointed for staggered terms of three years. Reelection by the Board of Directors for a three-year term is possible. Prof. ZHOU Lijun has becomea board member of WLO since the year of 2011, and she is currentlyelected as an Executive Committee member of WLO.

Formed in 1952, the World Leisure Organization is a non-profit, non-governmental body of individuals and organizations from throughout the world. The World Leisure Organization´s most prized partnership is its recognition as a consultative body with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. It is committed to the belief that well-selected leisure experiences improve quality of life for all. Members are from all parts of the world and from diverse areas of interest,  including travel and tourism, parks and recreation services, the arts and culture, sport, health and fitness, theme and entertainment centers and educational institutions.

ZJU became part of the network of the World Leisure Center of Excellence (WLCE) in 2018 as the first member in Asia and the fourth globally. Currently, the WLCE network is composed of five centers, each with their own characteristics. The WLCE-ZJU takes the lead in sports leisure & health and leisure education.
