The Forrest Research Foundation was established in 2014 with an initial gift of AU$100 million to create an elite PhD scholarship and post-doctoral fellowship program in Western Australia. The Foundation annually supports up to 12 fully-funded 4-year PhD Scholarships and 4 generous 3-year Post-doctoral Fellowships for exceptional researchers, who can be based at any of Western Australia’s five universities (though the great majority are based at UWA). The Scholarships and Fellowships are open to candidates from any nationality, and any field of research. Applicants need to have an outstanding academic track record; for example, the average GPA of Forrest PhD Scholars is 3.97/4.0, and typically they have been in the top 5% of their graduating cohort. The Scholarships and Fellowships provide some of the most generous stipends of any international scholarship and fellowship scheme, and also provide accommodation in luxury self-contained apartments in Forrest Hall, adjacent to the UWA campus in Perth.
