Agricultural and Forestry Economics & Management

The discipline of Agricultural Economics and Management is developed in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Management, which is one of the two departments that were the first to enroll graduate students in Zhejiang University, back in 1936. The department offers a postdoctoral work station, a doctoral degree program in agricultural and forestry economics and management, a master's degree programs in agricultural and forestry economics and management, a co-built master's program in industrial economics as well as two undergraduate programs in agricultural and forestry economics and management, and rural regional development. Furthermore, reputable research institutions established based on the discipline includes the Center for Agricultural and Rural Development (simplified as CARD, which is one of the Key Humanities and Social Sciences Research Bases nominated by Ministry of Education Ministry of Education of China), and the National Innovation Base for China Rural Development Research. The Agricultural Economics and Management discipline is quasi national key discipline, key discipline of Zhejiang Province and one of the prior support disciplines of the National“211 Project”. The department actively involved in research areas such as Agricultural Industrial Organization and Institution, Resource and Land Management, Agricultural Economy and Policy, Agricultural Product Trade and Supply Chain Management.

      The department has 19 highly qualified faculty members, of whom 10 are professors (8 of the professors are supervisors in doctoral programs), 5 associate professors, and 4 lecturers in addition to 10 post doctoral researchers. Over the recent decades, the department has developed into an important teaching and research base in agricultural economics of China, and our alumni perform actively in both academy and industry of agricultural economics.

      In recent years, the department has undertaken more than 80 research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Philosophy and National Social Sciences Foundation of China, the Ministry of Education, and provincial government departments as well as more than 50 enterprise-funded consultation projects. Among them, 13 projects have won research awards and 10 research reports have been adopted by Zhejiang provincial government or corresponding ministry for policy making. Based on above projects, the faculty members have published hundreds of papers in important academic journals, quite a few of which are SCI, SSCI, ISTP, and EI listed.
